The History of Halloween

Halloween is one of those holidays that is completely out of our minds the very next day.  So…this post probably lost its appeal a week ago!  Oh well..

Tonight we watched the first 28 minutes of the video included below.  It is an entertaining, and informative, history lesson about the origins of Halloween.  While the Catholic church would be OK with everyone believing that the holiday is the “eve” of All Hallows Day (all saints day), indeed the tradition has pagan roots and dates back thousands of years.

Like many of our current party-themed holidays … this one, too, is Irish.
